    Cartographer / Gatherer / Possessions

I used cartographer along with routes forever for my mining, but now its all borked and I don't have any nodes on my updated cartographer.  I had cartographer_mining but it is no longer updated.  Does anyone use gatherer and the downloaded database for farming nodes?  If so does it work well with cartographer?

A second problem I have is keeping inventory of my alts and banks and whatnots, I used to use possessions and whohas but both are once again borked and doesn't look like anyone is updating them.  Anyone have an alternative for keeping track of your bank alts?

Bagnon does everything possessions does and more.   I have the same problems with Cartographer 2.3 and haven't had time to sit down and solve them yet.  I certainly don't want to lose my node databases for herbing and mining..

I tried Cartographer 3, but it's simply not done yet.   It looks fancy and such, but it's overkill for what I want.. and it didn't read in my old node database which leaves me in the same boat as I am now..

I use Gatherer as well.  I'm pretty sure downloadable databases for resource nodes are also available but I have never used them.

That whole zoomy map of cartographer3 was annoying who would want something like that.

I'm sticking with the old cartographer, it works fine and I tried Cart3 out for a day but it sucks.

Ok, Here's what I've found out.   Cartographer_Herbalism and its brothers are dead..  they've been replaced with GatherMate.  Which is separate from but compatible with Cartographer 2 and 3.

I've loaded 'em up and they behave basically the same as before, just configured from its own menu instead of from within Cartographer.   Two thumbs up.

If I want just something that tracks herb nodes, what's my best option, this GatherMate? I just want something very simple and lightweight, don't need anything elaborate.

I am using gatherer which is by the same folks that do auctioneer so I believe they will continue to support it.  I think gathermate does this as well but it picks up nodes from guildies which is nice.  It would be nice if folks would all use the same one so we can all get eachother's nodes.

On another note, my searching for a mod that shows counts for alts of items.  Bagnon has it as a separate addon within it's download so if you don't like bagnon you can disable the main mod but keep the other two I think it is active and will track how many stacks of crap you have on your alts in the tooltip.

If you use any version of Cartographer, then I recommend GatherMate without hesitation.  I'm not sure what's best if you don't use a world map mod.

I used to use Gatherer but it kept giving me UI errors a couple patches back so I disabled it, it seems as though there's a working version again so I may just try again.

As for Cartographer, what is that and why would a person want it?

Cartographer is a world/instance map that does a number of things including:

    • Shows you the location of everyone in your group/raid as well as Guild members with cartographer installed
    • Shows you the areas you have not explored but has them dimmed.. so you can see where you haven't been yet, but know you haven't been there yet.
    • Allows you to create and share notes for locations
    • Allows you to create waypoints for given locations and then gives you a big arrow on your screen to show you the way to go to get there.. and they can be chained.  QuestHelper will use this to point you at your quest objectives if you also have that mod installed.
    • provide a platform for other mods to display things on the map.

I like and use Cartographer 2.3 -- version 3.0 is a rewrite that is overly fancy IMHO and not done yet in any case.
