    Character's Name : Babyhugz
    Class/Spec : Blood Elf Mage 11/0/60
    Time Played : 40days 17hours
    Time Played Level 80 : 20hours
    Profession : Herbalism 437 / Alchemy 380

    Armory : http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Bonechewer&n=Babyhugz

    Computer/Internet :

     Hp Pavilion AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 1GB (buying another 1GB soon) Windows XP e-GeForce 8500GT 512MB DDR2

    SBC DSL Internet Connection

    About Me :
Hello my name is Cindie and I am 20 years old. I live in San Francisco California with my
boyfriend (Toogoodtu) and we been together for 3 years going on 4. I am currently unemployed
and going back to school. I love playing MMORPG games and I've encounter several other mmo's
before playing WOW. After trying several others such as Conquer Online, Hero Online, Maple
Story, Fiesta Online, Talisman Online, Cabal Online, Hellgate London and a few others, I am
here to stay for WOW. I grew to love this game and is of course my hobby. I can't see myself
playing any other mmo, WOW is by far the best.

    WOW History :
I started playing WOW in August 2008. I was linked to my boyfriends account so I had triple
experience. I managed to level 1-70 in about a week and half. My boyfriend was in Genocide,
so he got me in the guild and I went right straight to raiding. That was my first guild ever
and was my last guild. I learned how to raid and play my mage in Genocide. It is a very nice
guild but me and Toogoodtu left due to some problems we felt that was not being handled for a
    long time.

    Raid History :
    Pre BC - None
    Karazhan - Cleared
    Gruuls Lair - Cleared
    Magtheridon - Cleared
    ZA - Cleared 4th timer Pre 3.0
    Serpentshrine Cavern - 5/6
Tempest Keep The Eye - 3/4
    Mount Hyjal - 4/5
All above is before 3.0 patch
Black Temple - 1/9 Pre patch, After patch Cleared =)
    Sunwell - None

Is there anything that will keep you from making to the raids? :
Nothing really. But if I had to visit my mom or have a job interview, I would consult with the
officers and find another replacement for me the day before raid.

Why I chose Frost Spec as a raider? :

I was originally a fire mage before I went Frost. I loved fire spec pre 3.0 patch and did not
like Frost as much. After the patch came out fire was still very good in my opinion but since
my old guild was raiding BT, I decided to go Frost for Illidan. Although fire seems
to be the most efficient spec in most raid bosses, I grew to love frost. I leveled to 80 as
frost and is now doing heriocs as frost too. My blizzard helps aoe mobs down faster and
having Improved Blizzard helps slow down any loose mobs. The beginning of every boss fight
I pop my Water Elemental, mirror image, trinkets, icy veins and dps the boss down and watch
out for any bad things that the boss do. Being frost, I still managed to be one of the top dps
    on boss fights.

    Why Herbalism/Alchemy? :
I love picking flowers. =) Making potions and elixirs for my boyfriend was one of the main
reasons. Other than that I love the new alchemy trinket that I am soon to get.

    Why Civilian :
The best thing I love about this game is Raiding. Ever since Wrath of the lich came out I leveled
with my boyfriend and got to level to 80 in 5 days. I was eagered to go back to doing dungeons and
raids. I know you have a reputation of being one of the best progressing guild out there. I would
love to be apart of the Civilian guild and help progress in Wrath of the Lich. I don't know anyone
in Civilian but I recently ran some level 80 heriocs with a Paladin tank in Civilian name Judgmant
and a few other members who I can't remember the name(sorry!><). They were great players, was very
friendly and taught me a few things about the new dungeons. After running with them it showed me
that Civilian is a warm and friendly guild who just want to beat their favorite game like me. I just
want a place where I can feel welcomed and play the game we all love.

Why Civilian should choose me. :
Although I've been playing this game for only 3 months and a half, I'm a very fast learner. I
can easily follow directions if it is taught correctly. I do not play around, or even talk
about nonsense during raids. I am not uptight or anything, I'm just really determined and
    focus in whatever I do.

Please feel free to comment and ask any questions. =)

    Hello Babyhugz!

I have a few quick questions for you.  For someone that's played WoW for 3 months now, how would you rank your overall knowledge of the mage class?  Where do you get your information on class mechanics, dps output, itemizing, gemming, etc?  Since you've played so many other MMO's and are now into WoW, do you see yourself possibly getting bored and moving on to another game?  I see you listed Hellgate London.  That game sucked, so I understand why you don't play it anymore.

Also, I see that your boyfriend is applying too and that you two probably play a lot together.  Would one's acceptance but not the other affect either of you or your relationship?

    Thanks!

Hello and welcome to our application process.

Would you accept an invite if your boyfriend was not accepted into our guild?

How much time do you estimate that you have played with out your boyfriend? What did you do during that time?

    Thank you

If my girlfriend played WoW and she didn't into Civilian I would break up with her in a flash.

Having 3 months of experience as a mage class is really short. I'm not going to lie, I
wouldn't say I acknowledge everything about my class because there are some things I need
to learn. I've been told by my class leader in Genocide (Skydriver) that I grew really
fast in getting my gear enchanted and gemmed. I usually ask a lot of questions about my
mage so I got a few tips from him and Supafli from Cry Havoc. I've seen them play and
they are great mages. I also read up a lot from Wowwiki.com and the different builds they
have and why they are build in that way. Other than that, I inspect alot of other mages
around Bonechewer and check up on what gemming they did for their spec. Although I am not
fully informed about my mage yet, I understand how to CC, spellsteal, counterspell, decurse
and dps at the same time.

I don't see myself moving on to another game because I am bored of this game. I see myself
moving on because I achieved my goals in this game. With the new patches and new expansion,
I don't see myself quitting anytime soon. =)

Me and Toogoodtu do indeed play a lot together. We are lovers and best friends and we do
most things together. If he were to get in and I didn't, I would be okay with it because
I know how much passion we both have for raiding. I would not want to take away his chance
to raid with one of the best guilds out there. This would not affect our relationship
at all because we talked about it and we understand eachother.

If I were to get an invite to this guild and my boyfriend didn't, I would accept and go
    cry in my corner. ='(
I don't sleep as much, so usually play when my boyfriend is sleeping I'm still up playing
WOW. The things I do when I'm by myself is grind for a ton of materials for cooking and
alchemy. Most times I help out my younger brother who just started playing WOW. It's very
fun to see a nooby saying "WHOA U ZAPPED THEM MOBS LIKE NOTHING". =D

If I seem to miss anything out let me know. Thanks for taking the time reviewing my application, I

know you guys are busy with in-game stuff. =P

Can you name any other sources that would be good for you to get information about Mage class mechanics?  Have you ever used a DPS spreadsheet?  Can you list the most important mage stats in order of Most important to Least important?  I understand from your app that you now use Frost instead of Fire, and you made that original switch in a PvE environment.  What was your reasoning for that?  What ultimately did you like about Frost over Fire?

With the current content having been cleared so fast by other guilds around the globe, and with the possibility that we will as well, how would you entertain yourself besides raiding so that you don't get bored again?  Do you have any alts that you play?  Do you PvP a lot or Arena?

What mods do you consider essential when raiding?

Do you have any macros that you use?  If so, what are they for (you don't need to post the macros themselves, a description is sufficient).

What is your opinion of frostfire bolt?

We ran quite a few heroics together since hitting 80...I remember wiping about 5 or 6 times because of what we thought was a bug with the first pack in Azjol Nerub. Despite having wiped all those times Toogoodtu and babyhugz didn't just give up and drop group like most pugs...but were willing to try and figure out if we could get around it somehow. We also almost beat the Strat timed run together on their first time ever in the instance (timed event boss despawned as we killed him). Good mage from what I've seen, was very helpful in sheeping caster mobs that I couldn't round up or counterspelling them into the aoe pack. I'll leave the rest to the mage experts since my mage is just a temp bank atm =)

I need to improve on learning how to build my mage correctly for the spec I choose to
play. As of right now I'm trying to learn what stats are more important for a frost mage.
I can't seem to find any more information on the internet so I'm just learning by
trying out different gears. I'm not too sure if my spell rotations need a little work
also. What I recently learned by playing is when my fingers of frost procs, I use frostbolt
on the first charge then use frostbolt + icelance on the second charge. I still get all 3
    bonus. =D

Other than wowwiki.com, I've been recently reading up mage mechanics on elitistjerks.com
forums. Although not everyones opinion is always right but it helped me understand mages
a little more. I found a program called Rawr, but I haven't got the chance to use it. I
think it would help me to understand what I need in my gear. I never used a dps spreadsheet,
I don't know where to find one. I did some research and couldn't find any. =/

As I said earlier I'm still learning what stats are best for frost mages. So I'm just
going to list them in order based on what I think as of right now.
Most important to least important :
    Spell Power
    Hit Rating
    Crit Rating
    Haste Rating
For base stats Intellect would be most important.

I switched after the new talents came out and the raids were nerfed. My guild was reaching
to Illidan really fast. I looked up Boss Killer strat for Illidan and it said they had
mages respecced for Improved Blizzard. At that time we had only 3 mages, and one mage
was arcane so I decided to be one of the frost mages. I loved the massive aoe damage from
blizzard and how it slowed down mobs. I also loved how frostbolt was a really fast cast
compared to fireball. In raids or dungeons, I'm usually running around doing things so
casting a fireball was hard to cast sometimes. Most of all I love my pet water elemental.
I usually pick hunters or archers in different games so I always had a pet running around
with me. Having this water elemental makes me happy. =) - Now you might be wondering why not
pick a warlock? NO! I love to give ports to people and make waters for them.

Although I love to raid, it is not my only goal in this game. I also have goals to get
all the mounts and pets I can get my hands on. The new acheivement system seems to be
quite entertaining but I'm not in a rush to achieve them all. I do have alot of alts,
but they are all low level. My druid Babymuu is level 36 and I stopped leveling it because
wrath came out. So I don't know when I'll go back to playing her again. Before 3.0 patch
came out, I use to do arenas and bgs. I was fire spec so it wasn't that fun to me. I
never usually respec to pvp because it was just something to pass the time when I was
    done grinding for mats.

When I am raiding I use deadly boss mod and decursive. Thats the only mods I ever used for
raiding. The only macros I use is sheep target and counterspell. Sheep target is to sheep
my marked target without clicking the monster. Counterspell macro is to stop what I'm
casting and cast counterspell on the target right away.

My opinion on frostfire bolt is that the spell is really good if you are specced the
right build. My build is not really for it so I don't bother using it. =/

    If I missed anything..please tell me ><

    Hi Babyhugz,

Can you explain the mechanics behind hit rating and how it relates to mages?

Can you explain the differences from being hit capped in TBC and being hit capped in WotLK?

In a fight where you just stand still and spam your best damaging abilities and we are trying to beat a timer would spell power be > hit rating?

Hit rating decreases the chance your spells will be miss. For a mage, a missed
spell is reported as "resisted". When fighting mobs whose level is lower than mine, the
chance for a spell to miss is minimal. However, fighting a boss several levels higher
than me (usually 3 levels) can result in a large portion of my spells missing. During
boss encounters, the boss has 17% chance to resist my spells. 1% of that cannot be reduced,
but the other 16% can be reduced through gear that has +hit rating.

    TBC hit cap was 202 = 16% (since 1% resist = 12.6 +hit rating)
    WOTLK hit cap is 406 = 16% (1% resist = 25.40 +hit rating)
    These are with no talents.

The only difference I see is that the + hit rating requirement seem to doubled, but is
    still 16%. o.o
Since I am frost spec, Elemental Precision gives me 3% hit rating so 330 (13%) +hit rating
    is fine for me.

If I would to encounter a boss fight where I had to stand there and spam my skills,
hit rating would own spell power. Without the hit rating requirement, I would be standing
there spamming my skills waiting for the spell to hit rather than having low spell power
and hitting each time my spell is cast. Hit rating is definetely important. =)

I hope I answered correctly..o.o these are just based on what I read on the internet and
    seems to make sense.

In Wrath you can eliminate the 1% miss chance so you go for 17% hit.

Other than that looks fine thank.  I think you might want to modify your order of stat preference.

I believe that they will be fixing this very soon.  I read in a blue post that they're going to change the discharge of these buffs upon spell cast and not spell hit, thus two will be the maximum you'll be getting.  Shatter, however, might be trickier to fix.  I'll have to verify my statement here, but I'm pretty positive it's correct.  Anyone feel free to tell me otherwise though if you know.  EDIT:  To clarify, baby was referring to the common shatter combo but with fingers of frost.  I'm referring to when fingers of frost uses a charge upon spell land when Blizz wants it to change to fingers of frost using a charge upon spell cast.  Apologies for any confusion.
