    WotLK builds & theorycrafting -Hunter

    I know I'm not playing right now but seeing as I plan on playing wow after WotLk comes out I made it a point to refresh my self on my two main classes.

    i don't honestly see what the big deal is about chimera shot... you have the ability to drain like 300 mana from your target (the shot itself costs 540), deal 450ish instant poison damage, or maybe stop your target from hitting in his next three swings (only useful against an intercepting warrior or boss)... it needs to be buffed, free of cost, or something, seems weak for a 51 point talent imo.

    don't forget the extra +3% damage done to a target who has a serpent sting on it for survival, thats another raid dps boost.

    you use it at the end of the stings timer to burn off 30% more mana(5225 total mana burned and 402 gained.) or do 30% more damage.(using 2000 rap unruffled so 2566 damage over all.) + 30% of your wep damage, and who can say how much that will be. It may also  do more with mark of death.

       (Potent Venom)"increases your damage done to targets affected by your wyvern sting  or serpent sting by 1% and reduces the mana cost of your serpent sting by 10%"

     whoa, where you getting 5225? i'd have to check again but i think  viper only drains like 1000-1200 mana, idk, still doesn't seem worth it currently, they should make it where it either doesn't have to deal with GCD or make it alot less mana, makeing it free would be OP. thenagain, its a 51 pt talent.

    Potent venom has 3 points available pushing it up to 3% and 30%

    mmochamp/hunter. I'm looking at the highest rank of  spells and using 2k unruffled that’s no hawk too rap as the new average at 80.  3092 w/o talents 4019-4020 with imp stings, if you use chimera shot at the end you could burn  5224.7-5226( IF your shot makes contact as the last tic goes off) 4722.7-4723.5 before the last tic. this is only rough math. it could also be more with imp tracking and marked for death but i would need in game data to know. 

    you are right the mana cost is a bit much.  costing about 480-500 mana would be nice or 40-50% wep damage and/or no GCD would make it a better talent.

    potent venom only works for the hunter with the talent. would be epic if it added 3% damage per serpent sting on the target it’s not bad but at the same time is not game breaking. I would like to see it do more like 30% cost reduction in all stings and a effect for each sting. for scorpid sting target dose 3% less damage. drains 3% mana back to you for viper. if the 3% damage worked for ever one it would make survival game braking for raiding. survival is still real nice 5 mans and raiding. with hunting party people will be fighting over you, and expose weakness is just hot for physical damage.

     you raiding as your hunter now?

     yeah, Syt is my main now, Silentbones is retired, wearing his level 60 gear and sitting on his ass in Thunder Bluff. I started as a hunter and i'm goin back to a hunter

    The hunter talent trees have been updated as well as 1 new spell for all hunters

    key notes:

    over all: all hunters can now train masters call 

    MM: 

    Rapid recuperation: reduces the mana and focus cost of all shots and abilities by you and your pet by 20% while under the effect of rapid fire and you gain mana equal to 50% of the damage you do under the effect of rapid killing over 6 sec. 

    Chimera shot: 375 mana 125% wep damage. if serpent sting, instantly deals 40% of the damage done by your serpent sting. if viper sting. instantly restores mana equal to 60% of the total amount drained by your viper sting. scorpid sting attempts to disarm the target for 10 secs can only be done once per min. 

    survival:

    imp traps gone.

     T.N.T : your immolation/explosive and explosive shot have a 5/10/15% chance to stun targets for 2 sec when they deal damage, and increases the  crit chance of your explosive shot and trap by 5/10/15

     survivalist increases your stam by 2/4/6/8/10%

    hunter Vs wild 5 points in survivalist/20 points in survival. increases you and your pet's attack power and ranged attack power by 10/20/30% of your total  stam 

    Lock& load need 15 points in survival: 33/66/100 chance when you trap a target & 5/10/15 % when you sting a target  that your next 3 arcane shot or explosive shot spells will trigger no cool down, cost no mana and consume no ammo. EPIC!!! 

     imp FD is now survival tactics 2/4 % chance your feign death sill be resisted and reduces the cool down of your disengage by 2/4 secs

    Potent Venom is now Noxious stings. if wyvern sting is dispelled, the dispeller is also addicted by  wyvern sting lasting 16/25/50% of the duration remaining, and increases all damage done by you on targets affected by Your serpent sting by 1/2/3%

    hunting party is now 100% chance every time you crit with explosive shot/steady shot/arcane shot, restores 2% mana, 10 energy ,4 rage or 10 runic power to all members of YOUR party 

    damage done by explosive shot fixed. 416-486 damage to target, and 104-121 to all enemies in 5 yards every 2 sec for ??? 

     BM

     aspect mastery is only 1  talent point now and has been moved up in the tree. 10% more mana from viper/  10% less damage done to you when monkey is active and 50% more AP from hawk

    path finder: 4/8% speed increase to cheetah and pack. and 5/10% to mount speed

    animal handler pet get 2/4 to hit and reduces the cool down of master's call by 5/10 sec 

    Suppuration Anxiety. 45 point talent. when your pet is greater then 20 yards from you or is LOS, its damage is increased by 2/4/6/8/10%, and when you’re within 20 yard of each other you move 2/4/6/8/10% faster

    language fixes on beast mastery. you master the art of beast training, teaching you the ability to tame exotic pets and increasing your total amount of pet skills by 5

    This is my rough build that i will be using in the beta. It includes the changes that will be in the next major build(change to deterence, disengage, etc etc etc.)

    This isn't a raiding build or a strict pvp build, just what I will be using untill I find out what I will be doing this time around. In the current bulid explosive shot is there and I like it.  Figure anything that increases my AP is good, so thats why I got Careful Aim in MM. Now down the survival tree. Took Imp Tracking mostly to fill out the 5 points. T.N.T looks like it could be nice for PVE and PVP. Since its AOE, can stunn people next to the person, and since it increases the crit chance of it, its pretty nice. Took Survival Insticts because of the increase in AP and since almost everything is based of a percent of AP figured it would be good. Took Survivalist since its now stamina and not just health(and add ontop of that toughness from mining which is another +35 Stamina).  Surefooted is % to hit of course so thats nice, along with the reduced movement speed. Now Lock and Load is almost to sweet to be true, and I sense a nerf but who knows. Hunter vs. Wild once again cause the NICE ap increase. Thrill of the Hunt for Sniping Party later on. Master Tactician looks good, not sure so i just put points in it. Maxed out rest because it looks self explanatory from there. Point of No Escape looks real nice since its ALL attacks and not just those, so all those happy crit people can become more happy. =)

    Explosive Shot: In my gear that is still mostly S1/S2 and pvp gear i do about 750 damage on the initial hit, and two other ticks. If it crits, I do about 1000-1100 a tick. So right now I do between 2100-3000 damage with it, which is much more then my arcane shot does. It does share the same cooldown, and cost about 300 more mana, but does so much more damage I like it still.

    quick question, and its kinda stupid, but just to varify, only the initial shot is critable for EP, right? the 2 ticks don't have the ability to crit?..

    nope, all 3 can crit which is nice. I find it VERY effective to take 2-3 mobs at once, put down a frost trap and kite them around with it.

    Bears get whatever feral druids use to aggro multiple mobs... Swipe I think it's called.
