WOTLK builds and theorycrafting - Paladin

I thought that I heard that turn evil was going to be and instant cast and now I don't see that anywhere. Did anyone else hear that.

Can anyone who plays beta tell me how the new judgement/hand systems are working out. And also the spells costing percentage of base mana, like Holy Light costing 33% of base mana.

The new judgement/hand systems are interesting. First with the judgements, you only have 3 of them. Judgement of Light, Wisdom, and Justice. These all do the same amount of holy damage, and that damage depends what seal you have on. The seals last 2 minutes of course adn the judgements do not consume your seal which is nice.

The hand system is pretty simple, its really just so if you need to bubble or salv someone it doesn't eat up their current blessing. The spells that turned to hands are salv(its 20% threat reduction over 10 seconds and has a 2 min cooldown i think), blessing of prot is now hand of prot. There are maybe 1-2 more but I forget and I am currently patching the beta.

The holy light costing 33% of mana I think is if you downrank. Cause I was using it and I know for a fact it wasn't taking 33% mana. Another change you may not have seen is that Lay of Hands is now a 20 minute cooldown and doesn't consume any of your mana which is very nice in PvP and PVE(unless it changed back in this latest build which i didn't see anything about it). Once again iw ill find out when i get into beta again. Same with turn evil.

Little off orig post, but since its the pally section, I have been looking over builds and this is what I have so far. Never played my pally much untill now so I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about it.http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?paladin=000000000000000000000000000503500520201302531225312011403200500300000000000000

I'd recommend something similar to this.

Pallies are all about crit based healing.  Ret has some great bonuses to crit now.  This build adds an extra 8% crit to all heals by going into ret.  With the holy talents, you're Holy crit chance with out any bonuses from gear or int is already at 19%.  Realistically, you could easly get 40-50% crit at in end game gear.

There will have to be a king's *** pally though.  Problem is, Prot Pallies have talent points spread so thin as is, it's hard for them to pick it up too.  The Maintankidin community is 99% sure our prot talents are going to get another overhaul though.  If this is the case, it may be feasible for a Prot Pally to pick it up 100% of the time.  If not, who knows.  More info after next talent pass on the test realms.

Yeh I have a bad habit of not looking into ret for spell crit. The build I made was mainly looking towards 5 mans, pvp, and if I get lucky and can maybe raid some days for 10 mans. That build is nice tho.

Holy Light costs 10% of your mana, FoL costs 3% of your mana. Turn Evil is till a 1.5 second cast in beta.

I was playing around with talents.  I really don't like what they did to kings.  It is in an easily accessible location, but which ever paladin goes for it will be gimping his/herself on personal performance.  Ideally we will need multiple pallies with it to allow some raid compistion flexibility and player rotation.

Holy gives up 3% crit to all heals.  51/5/15

    http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=sxA0tGzhVuMxotaZVcbx

Prot gives up either a good chunk of threat or mitigation.  With a missing 11 point talent, who knows how this will change.  5/53/13

    http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=sVZaxVA0uMtcIRGoxsb0b

Ret gives PVP gimmicks, but is the least affected by picking it up.  5/10/56

The problem I see with it is this is a talent that every paladin should be putting 5 points in because no raid should be going w/o 10% stats.  When a class has to do that, the talent usually gets base lined (IE evocation).  Personally, I'd like to see santuary get base lined or worked into imp RF, and have kings be our 21 point talent in prot.  Hopefully something will be adjusted.

Any of you guys have alternitive ideas to work kings into specs?

     /shrug  Only a tweak.

The build I'm planning as 3.0 goes live

    http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=sZ0xZVfbx0IucMsguAo

Too many points that can go places like Vindication and PoJ that are needed for dps increases.  SoB imho is still better than SoC so I've opted out for this pve build.

    ...at 80

    http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=sZaxZVfrtbIucMsguAo

but those last 5 points into kings can be put anywhere :)

The prot build i made for 80 is pretty similar to yours mina, but i just dont take kings.

The new sanctuary is amazing, and to me, i feel let the holy pallys get kings, my prot points are better elsewhere.

With Imp concentration aura in the holy tree now, holy paladins will probably be keeping their points in the holy tree.

This is the build I used to clear Naxx 10 man.

Holy paladins are still the best tank healers in the game.

Re: WOTLK builds and theorycrafting - Paladin

Just wanted to post this announcement in regards to paladins for anyone who might not have seen it...

    Quote from: Ghostcrawler (Source)

We have already announced or suggested all of these changes would be forthcoming in the next minor content patch. I thought I would list them all in one place for ease of use.

    • Divine Shield: Penalty changed so that all damage done is reduced by 50% instead of a attack speed penalty.
    • Divine Protection no longer causes an attack penalty. Divine Shield's penalty was changed to 50% less damage done by the paladin.
    • Sacred Duty: This Protection talent no longer affects the attack penalty of Divine Shield and Divine Protection, but grants additional bonus Stamina.
    • Avenging Wrath, Divine Shield, Divine Protection, and Hand of Protection have a shared, 30-second cooldown. The Forbearance effect is no longer triggered by Avenging Wrath.
    • Judgement of Wisdom now returns a percentage of base mana instead of a percentage of max mana.
    • All mana drain effects now return a percentage of max enemy mana (making mana drains less punishing to paladins and other characters without large mana pools.)
    • Judgements of the Pure: This Holy talent now increases the damage done by Seals and Judgements.
    • All paladins receive a single-target taunt (name TBD) as a base ability.
