Level 80 Achieved
I appreciate you getting back to me when you did, Zafo.
I apologize on the delay in my response, however it was made clear how important it was to level up.
To answer your question in more detail on my guild history, I have been in a few guilds none of which were major or well-progressed ones but are as follows.
Back when I started playing WoW on Alliance I was in a guild called "Super Friends Club" or something to that effect while I was playing my Hunter. I had joined up with them when I first hit 70 a couple weeks after Burning Crusade launched. They were fairly solid and moved along well. While with them I did Kara, Gruuls, Mags, ZA and was getting in some T5 content before I had a change of heart with factions. While with them I had achieved a raid-officer position as well as class leader. I felt bad when I decided to leave Alliance both for that fact that I had built myself up in what I'd imagine to have become a pretty solid end-game guild, but also some good friends. I honestly didn't give a lot of thought or theory as to why it would have been better for me to roll Horde when I did. Just a choice I went with and since, have never looked back.
When I rolled Horde and familiarized myself when all the new cities, quest lines, etc. I started on a Rogue followed by a Warlock. For a while I was on a pretty hard PvP kick, it was all I did for a while. I ran with the "Without Mercy" guild on my Warlock when they first started raiding, ran Kara enough to make me wanna gouge my eyes out, and picked up the proceeding 25-mans when we could though not that often. Great bunch of guys, but as I'm sure a lot of guilds have experienced when recruiting anyone who wants to join, we had run into a lot of impatient people. So if a time didn't work for someone for raids, or if someone couldn't show up we'd have to spend time looking for PuGs and people would leave the raid group and sometimes even the guild. It was very frustrating to me to have to deal with people who just wanted everything to go right now, or to run something smooth the very first time as a group. Things that were new to me and I ended up appreciating very much was the honor system they had established. There were the Veterans and the raid leaders who had been there for a long while, ran everything and became reliable players Then there were the follow up people who wanted to get in that position, they would "PuG" one of the newer recruits for a raid and keep them on call throughout the week for Heroics, etc. And through showing up and performing well they'd gain credibility and rank in the guild. Simple tactic I suppose, just something that was new to me and it seemed to work out well. Meanwhile on my Rogue I had just kicked around in "Condemned" who didn't raid at all. Real laid back group of guys who were big into PvP which is what I mainly did with my Rogue.
While picking up on my raid history with my 2 DPS toons when I leveled them up and trying to get back to where I was on my Hunter and ever further, I had come to realize that it wasn't my passion. As with any character there's a relationship you have to establish with the toon and its class. While the DPS race to see who can top out the charts is fun, I had come decided that I wanted to tank. So I leveled up a Protection Warrior and found something I really enjoyed. When I got him to 70 I had PuG'd for a while, was in a little guild of real life friends of mine just so that I had someone to talk to while I played, but they never raided. I worked my way through all the T4 stuff as anyone could have by then, but found myself as a stand in PuG for the guild "Darkest Light" in a ZA run. At the end of the run they recruited me immediately and I was put on their schedule for the raids from there on out. Pretty solid group of guys, didn't PuG anything once they got a second dedicated tank in the guild for 10-mans at least. All of them had been playing on the server long enough so that when the time came for 25 mans, we could fill in the spots pretty easily. However the one regret I have was that I didn't start my Warrior earlier. He hit 70 in mid-September this year, and therefore didn't get a lot of raid time in before the Wrath of the Lich King expansion launched. So with the more "seasoned" players, the desire to raid kind of dwindled out and I could see that in the guild. Since expansion launch it's only got worse, I'm the only 80 in the guild so aside from spending a lot of time in the "LFG Channel", I'm seeking out a guild with more active players and end-game progression capabilities.
Gear-Plan :
Well I hit 80 late Sunday night-Monday morning, so naturally I'm hitting up every Heroic I can get a group for to stock Badges as well as picking up boss drops.
Crafted pieces I'm working on are the "Armor Plated Combat Shotgun" from the Engineers and the "Tempered Titansteel Helm" from the Blacksmiths. ( G r i n d o u t t h o s e E t e r n a l s )
I chose the gun because aside from it's very beneficial stats, I haven't found any other thrown or ranged weapon to do the job for a Protection Warrior.
And for the Helm, it's the only protection headplate I've found outside of raids and "Emblem of Valor" content.
I know there's a couple more Blacksmithing pieces, like the Boots and Shield, but compared to the Badge ones I think it'll be replaced quicker than I'd like. Especially having to grind out a ton of Eternals and $$$ for Titansteel Bars. By the time I gear out all the more vital pieces I'll be sitting at 540 Defense and won't need the extra +30 Defense those pieces have to offer and can put more focus on Parry, Block and Dodge stats.
