It Came from, Behind! Rogue Macros!

So I have been tearing myself apart trying to figure out how to have a better damage output and I figure what might save me some time, clicking, or button pushing is macros. Not I'm not much of a macro writer, in fact I just really steal a lot of mine. So I wanted to start something where people can toss in ideas, your macros or what I might be doing wrong. Hopefully this will bridge the gap between Neckface and Zafo's dps to mine and Snapples for example. Below are the list of Macros I use. If you have any Advice on patching up some of my Macros, OR supplying me with some better macros that I might find very useful, I would love to add them to my action bars.

Mutilate: My trinket currently is the First Mate's Pocketwatch

    #showtooltip Mutilate
    /startattack
    /cast Blood Fury <((Level*4)+2 = Attack power gained.)Orc Racial traid>
    /use 13
    /Cast Mutilate

Envenom: For those, Hard to Hit Envenoms.
    #showtooltip Envenom
    /cast Cold Blood
    /cast Envenom
    /startattack

Tricks of the Trade: For the 5 man's I have just been fronting my Threat to the Tank so that I don't risk a wipe, for a 10/25 man I think sending the threat & Damage buff is more beneficial to another dps class, most likely another rogue (hoping they send their TotT at me)

    #showtooltip Tricks of the Trade
/cast [target=<tank/dps>] Tricks of the Trade

Stealth/Vanish: Just a simple, stealth if I am not in combat or Vanish if I am in combat. This is a mash-able button.

    /cast [combat] Vanish; [nostealth] Stealth

Heal: This is my Healing macro, since I am an Alchemist I get Lifeblood. combined with my Heavy Frostweave Bandage I can heal myself for approximately 7800 hp over 8 seconds.

    #showtooltip Heavy Frostweave Bandage
    /cast Lifeblood
    /target Hoov
    /cast Heavy Frostweave Bandage
    /untarget

What's the /use 13 in your mutilate macro for?  I use a /startattack; /cast Mutilate as well for my mutilate attack. It's very useful; for those that don't know, when you switch targets and spam this, you'll start your white attacks before you mutilate in case you dont have enough energy for the mutilate (also useful for BS, SS, etc..).

As for the CB/envenom combo, it's good to always use it when it's available, however I prefer to use it when i have 5 combo points. The nature of mutilate has our rotations typically doing 4CP finishers, so I wait for the opportunity when a mutilate doesn't crit (so i mutilate twice in a rotation) and have 5 CP to bust out the envenom hammer. This is a good macro to use for those of us that can forget we have this skill. And, to be honest, Cold Blood is kinda a lame talent. If it wasn't for the prereq for seal fate, I wouldn't take it. We crit enough...a 100% chance to crit I find to be useful in PvP only.

The stealth/vanish one is good. I use just the stealth part of it for stealth so that it's mashable.

Tricks of the trade, I highly suggest (read: do) that we all create 2 macros. One for a dps target and one for a selected target. Set the dps one in the beginning of the raid to the dps that you will be sending this one too the most. Rogues are the best choice since our threat can be cleared...and because we should keep it in the family.  The other macro should be set to whoever you have selected. This can be used for the tank, OT, or any other dps that isn't your current ttot dps target for those on-the-fly situations. Of course, feel free to make more that have specific conditionals (and share them here!)

Tricks of the trade stack on the target, btw. Pokey and I had 2 up on Gurruk in Naxx last night.

BTW, i found this on EJ, i'm going to try it out tonight. Set your focus to your fellow rogue:

/cast [help] [target=focus, help] [target=targettarget, help] Tricks of the Trade

This should (if it works correctly) cast ToT on your current target if it's friendly, on your focus if your current target isn't friendly and your focus is friendly, and finally on whoever's currently targeted by whatever you're attacking (i.e, the tank, or you if you're soloing).

If it works, this'll be exactly what i was looking for.

/use 13 will use whatever trinket is in the top trinket slot.

Re: It Came from, Behind! Rogue Macros!

Before I logged off last night I was able to pick Neckface's brain slightly about Macro's and how to write some. Neckface is really smart on the area and was able to fix up some of my macros to make them work a little better. He has some great macros for Druids and taught me how the new (Focus) ability works on the fly. I didn't quite understand what it means to have [target=hoov] really meant till he explained that the command is telling spell to cast it on Hoov without breaking target. All those extra stuff with [help] blah blah, I dont understand and hope one day i can find a way to understand this better. I greatly like the Idea of keeping 2 TotT macros to front a Focused target (i.e. OT or Tank) and the 2nd for another of my Rogue Brethren. I found it to be quite annoying though to add a /p TotT is up to the macro, every 30 seconds of seeing it was quite annoying to me. I figure if I'm using TotT on another class most likely, my using that spell should not hinder their attack/spell rotation and hopefully the timeing is right that withing the 6 seconds of the 15% buff they are focused 100% on the mission at hand.

/use 13 is for the to Trinket slot

/use 14 is for the Bottom Trinket Slot

What I am currious though is, Am I able to add a Macro that I would keep for raiding, Example. Guthe holds Great aggro and I have found it to be damn near impossible to catch up to him. Can I add a Macro to my Mutilate Macro that is able to determind if TotT is available, if So, use the /cast [target=<focus/selected dps>] Tricks of the Trade then finish the rest of my mutilate macro? I generally spam Mutilate till I have 4/5CP's then envenom. So spamming the button is no issue. I have a bar I set asside (hidden) with my extra macros that I may need in specific situations so I could store the individual macros over there and on a normal say tank and spank fight. I can switch them up and spam on macro that will do all (TotT onto target, blood fury, trinket, Mutilate)? I know this may be too much but I'm currently transitioning from a clicker to a button pusher. I have yet to learn how to set up another action bar to be my shift modifier action bar and find i have use for more than 12 action bars in a raid/5 man situation.

I've always used the /startattack on all of my macros to prevent any of my spells from stopping my white damage. I need everything I can get to try and keep up.

Even on my hunter I had /cast hunter's mark /startattack /petattack so my arrow's started flying and my pet started out.

You can't cast TotT on yourself??? But let me see if I understand this correctly.

If I have a a friendly target selected (not my focus target) this will send it to them, If I have a non-friendly target selected, this will send it to the Focus, If I have no focus and a Non-friendly target selected, this will send it to the tank (or targets - target)????

Yeah, i know but i was just quoting the original user. ToTT can't be put on yourself...if that was the case, we wouldn't give it to anyone else.

And yup, you have the logic correct. I haven't tried it out yet but i will later.

[help] means that they're friendly. This will be useful for ToTT for the random non-tank and non-regularttot-dpser. Just target them and execute it.

[target=focus, help] means that your focus target is friendly. This will send it to your focused DPS target (better be a rogue omg!)

[target=targettarget, help] means that your target of target is friendly. So if you don't have a focus set, it will send it to your targets target. Having /clearfocus handy would be useful if you definatly want this one to go off. Maybe in the middle of the fight when you have to scramble to put threat on the tank after a threat reset. Of course, you'll need to put your your focus back on your dps'er.

You can only cast ToTT on friendly targets, so the check for friendliness is useful.

Tried this tonight, the only bum part is when the Tank dies, you have to reset your Focus to the tank, no Wipes, or the Tank never dies. No worries. Unfortunatly I always forget to reset my Focus and found myself sending my threat at Ruthlessmind who already had too much threat cause he is a Threat greedy *** at times. lol

Yeah, i've been using it too and it works like a charm. I've set up my focus frame (in pitbull) to be near my target's target. They're both small bars since I only care about their name. I have the ToTT macro as well as a focus 'toggle' macro that Baps hooked me up with. I was pretty satisified in Naxx last night with it so I'll probably be using this setup.
